Plovdiv

When I arrived in Plovdiv and tried to find the center I got lost. Of course!

Because of my lack of orientation skills I ended up in a small indi cafe and left with this henna work of art on my hand and one more friend from Plovdiv, Manoela. :)

Finally I realized that I have to go through underground to get to the main square. There I found lot of fancy clothe shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs, fountains, mosque and ancient amphitheater.

In the main square there were traders selling honey and artists with their masterpieces. In different places talented street musicians and near fountain bunch of youngsters, bohemians smoking weed and just enjoying themselves. But further in the park a bunch of men passionately playing chess.

In many places on buildings are very nice looking, extraordinary graffiti.

Knowing that Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria there were not many people in the streets. Even at night time... Maybe it was just a coincidence and I happened to be in Plovdiv at some special time of the year when people prefer staying warm at home.
If you go to Plovdiv I recommend to join the free walking tour. And if you feel tired after walking, but don't feel like partying there is also a cinema. Somewhere...

Enormously huge thanks to Polya, who hosted and introduced me to other visitors and made me feel like at home.

Before I did this adventurous trip I thought that all places in Bulgaria are just like Kazanlak. Because it was the only city in Bulgaria that I used to know and live in. But know that I know that there are such nice places like Karlovo, Hisarya and Plovdiv I do not feel so much like living in the past anymore...
When I got back to my current home place Shipka, first time through the stay abroad I felt home-sick. What is more bizarre, I didn't feel home-sick for my homeland Latvia, but for all these places which I visited and people which I met during the trip.
